As I share my reflections with you each week on early Sunday Mornings before I head out to the best house on the street to meet; The Good Lord’s House (this week streaming church service Rev. T.D. Jakes at the Potter’s House). I hope to share some things with you that will help you have a better week next week.
Sunday Mornins is my time with you to encourage you to reflect on your past week and analyze it,to learn from it, and to better plan for your upcoming week.
Absorb and release- change-improve, move more efficiently to accomplish more than you expected from yourself last week. As you grow towards your goals this week coming think back to the week you just finished. Name 3 things that come to your mind right off the bat. Write them down in your journal.
Take time to reflect on your past weeks daily activities from work to play. Do it every week so you can keep trotting ahead like a champion.
Reflecting to projecting. That’s the way to make your life stronger, wiser, and to have a clearer site for your path ahead by breaking it down to one week at a time.
The power of life and death lay in the power of the tongue
This weeks Sunday morning Reflections with: E. Michelle Lee/ subject: Watch what you say!
As I reflect back on this past week; I think about how important it is for us to watch what we say for our words are powerful to promote and devastating to lives we hurt if we don’t Watch What We Say and use them the right way..
I remember when my boys were little and they would learn a new bad word or they would say something hurtful about and/or too others. One day while listening to a program for parenting the right values and stuff into your children by Focus On The Family.org ; I heard them tell about having your kids play a game with toothpaste, a paper plate, and a choice of objects to use as a scooper.
The object of the game was to get all of the toothpaste off of the paper plate that you squirted it onto and back in the tube of toothpaste container you squirted it out of. Well, now y’all know that is virtually impossible! As it is to take back words that we sometimes, without thinking, spew out of our mouths, unknowingly, and knowingly. If you don’t know for sure that which you are about to say is true or good. DON’T SAY IT without thinking first.
Scientists have proven that when we speak our words never go away. Like as does light travel through the universe so does sound. They say that sound never truly leave the atmosphere ; I hope this is not a fable and is correct as I can remember being told. If there was a way in which scientist could direct all our sound bits into one space they say they could actually re-create every conversation that we have on and off this planet we call Earth. Now is that an Amazing Scientific finding or what.? If it were possible? (please provide any info you have on this content, I know I heard this for years from trusted sources; I just cannot remember who- thanks for any positive input in advance).
After having my boys “Play that game” wink wink, a few times of long hours of trying to win; there was much more of the toothpaste on the plate than that which got back into the tube; mind you they started watching what they said to others not including me. Mom’s are exempt they claim. 🙂
Here’s a tip to help you watch what you say by doing this:
You see, if we think before we speak, about anything, to anyone, regardless if that person is related to the conversation piece at all; we should speak in a positive manner even when conveying serious subject matter. During times when we are speaking or should say, reporting information; first and foremost we must verify that type of information with a source.
We can have the right information to speak about during everyday and business conversations that effect more than one individual that will never have to question the “Watch What We Say” litmus test . When we make it our duty to always want to convey to all parties involved that we are professional career and entrepreneurial minded types of people, who wish to get ahead in life while we help each other do the same. We succeed as individuals, communities, counties, states, and as a whole a Nation to be proud of; America The Beautiful.
That is what life is all about right? So why would we speak anything but good so that we can all be different yet together in helping each other grow. Unless we are not prepared to walk the talk after we talk the talk. Then don’t just talk the talk at all.
Shout out to the Exceptions To The Rules who do the walk after the talk!
And for those of us who need to learn to listen more deeply, may God bless us to learn how to listen to all things that educate us on what we speak about.
Even the good book says:
Ephesians 4:29 (King James Version)
I started reading this article, “Mind Your Words” by Linda Gilden on Lookout Magazine; I have not finished the article during my second time around reading for fact finding. What I have read briefly; Linda seems to hit it right between the eyes with the perspective of the Good Book and how you should watch what you say. (Check out her article for yourself click above on her name.)
Have a blessed week and remember that your litmus test for you to “Watch What you SAY” is : Is what I am saying going to help, hurt, uplift, tear down, taint, or bless the person whom I am speaking to or who I may be speaking about? Give your words thought; they can open or close a door for someone else now and you in the future when the person who heard you say that found out that it was not true facts.
Speak positively always to make great things happen in your life and the lives of others.
