January 16th is not a day off; It’s a National Holiday to serve others and a way to honor and carry on the spirit of Dr.(Rev) Martin Luther King, Jr.
There is no other message as important coming from Dr. King’s teaching as the one he prominently preached; ” to serve others”. For when we serve others we are serving our Nation for a better tomorrow and more importantly it is our God-given duty.
As Dr. King has been eloquently quoted with this infamous saying of his,
“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: ‘What are you doing for others?'” Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (cited at http://mlkday.gov/)
So should we follow in his footsteps to meet the mark of excellence through the service of others.
If you have this “Day Off” make sure you use it to commemorate that which it was intended for as it originated in 1994; serve others.

Dr. King was a pioneer for Americans of all race, creed, and stature. What he did to pave the way for the black race was intended not just for those with lessor civil rights at the time. But it was also for all of humanity to learn that differences should not separate us from doing that which is right for all human kind.
Serve Others. March with Columbus, Ohio today to carry on the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
