There is an easy way to build a presentation on the go. It’s so simple you probably already have it done and are not even aware that you have built it. Now you just need to connect the dots………………………………….aka the sites, profiles, and contributions you have made to your online presence and reputation as a professional in your given field.
When I first decided back in 2009, at the end of my tenure with an international IT company, to come online and start building my presence/resume, in hopes of obtaining work, due to my unexpected layoff because of the economy. I knew in the back of my mind from my experience with IT (aka technology) that nothing online is ever totally archived, hidden, or private. I kept that in mind as I began my search and profile building. Now call that accidental planning and I would somewhat have to agree. I am glad now that I took that mindset and turned it into an approach to utilizing the net to reach potential buyers of my services as a freelance for hire 1099 employee. For it is because of that approach that I now have built a powerful integrated online presentation that I have memorized by heart and systematically and strategically used sorta as a “Slide Deck” on the go.

From my website as my hub with links to everything from my Photobucket Account to my Exceptions Resource Daily Blog, I shared, described (filled in meta data), posted, twitted, and most importantly integrated them all. I bet you that I have at least 30-40 sites that I have contributed to, built, or liked in the past four years.
Every time I learned something from someone or used a video; first of course I did my part to say thank you by Giving Back 2 Pay Forward and commenting, LIKE, Follow and/or subscribe. Then I saved what I used in a playlist or RSS or excel spreadsheet; whatever was appropriate at the time for the particular medium I was online using.
One day as I was on the go to a meeting when a potential client that I had been trying to connect with called me while I was driving. Of course I could not stop since I was on my way to meeting. I could not utilize my smart phone to look it up on the web because that would have been unsafe driving. But from memory and continued use of these online sites and the integration that I had done amongst my sites with my website; I was able to walk that client through a full spectrum presentation that was user-friendly and only a CLICK away. Can you guess what was said as a result of that client call? Not only to me but to others outside of my circle who this person shared how impressed they were about my presentation. Client Prospect said, ” Michelle made it so easy, even though I myself am not tech savvy I was able to click and go; I want my stuff to be that way for my customers”.
Build it and they will come! Harvard studies show that we are online 50% of our waking hours doing something. Why not make that time count and start saving your work while you build your online presence. You are going to be doing it anyway. Plus, you not only build up your own reputation; you also are building up others who have provided you something of value that you have no other way to pay them back but to share it. Remember, “You can everything in life that you want, if you will just help enough other people get what they want”, Zig Ziglar.
Depending on what industry you are in will determine which social sites and online tools that you use. Going back and retracing your steps may be an incumbent approach; start today taking the time to save bookmarks, put a spread sheet together in excel for the stuff you used and a separate one for all of your profiles and places where you either contributed or are mentioned, make playlist on your YouTube account, create trackbacks to your own things as well as others, and most importantly LIKE SUBSCRIBE FOLLOW COMMENT SHARE the stuff that you use that someone else created; it’s the least that you can do to say THANK YOU as a professional courtesy.
